Pondicherry beach also known as rock beach or promenade beach is a beach that acts as an important hotspot for the indigenous people and tourists. This beach is at the distance of about 1.2 km starting from Dupleix Park and till the end of war memorial or vice-versa. The narrow road that covers 1.2 km stretch is called Goubert street. This is the street for walkers of all age group, will be walking in the morning as well as evening on all days. You can see numerous wanderers on each day. Scenic photographers can be seen there to capture the view of sunrise with horizon, birds in the sea shore and so on. In the weekends, it is the beautiful place for outsiders to watch the scenic beauty and enjoy on the sea shore. Meanwhile, you can see local vendors were selling snacks, varieties of toys and so on at cheap price. So, families and couples can leisurely spend 2-3 hours in this beach.

Promenade beach is composed of two sections of beach, one is rock beach where the tides break-up because of moles and rocks and another one is sand beach where the people can have fun by playing on the shore and enjoying the ebb of the sea. Standing on the jetty, closing your eyes and stretching the both arms gives an immense feel like flying. Coastal guards of police department will be continuously survielling this area to avoid any kind of accidents in the sea-shore.
